Upcoming event

BCCH to celebrate the patron saint of England

Following the success of last year's event, the Chamber has decided to take St. George's Day celebrations to the next level, and organise a reception on 23 April 2010 in the Ballroom of the Corinthia Hotel Budapest in association with the hotel and in honour of the patron saint of England. HM Ambassador Greg Dorey has again accepted our invitation to this event, and we are looking forward to welcoming many other prominent guests. We are preparing a unique programme and a special English menu, and we hope to see many of you there.

BCCH Annual General Meeting 2010

The 2010 AGM of the BCCH will take place on Wednesday, 19 May 2010 at the Gundel. This year, it will be a bit different from previous years, as there will not be an election of a new Council, given last year's Charter modification, according to which Councillors are elected for a period of two years. The past 12 months, however, will be discussed through the reports of the Chairman, Executive Director and Treasurer, and HMA Greg Dorey will also say a few words as Honorary Chairman of the BCCH. Some awards will also be handed out, so it will definitely be an event you do not want to miss.

Members' Offers
New online service for members

Having received many offers from members that are available not only for fellow members, the Chamber has decided to make a distinction between these and the member-to-member offers, and introduce yet another feature on its website: the Members' offers section. This is to make it possible for member companies to publish their special offers and promotions on the site, helping them make these available to as many contacts as possible. If you are a member and would like to add your offers to this page, please contact the BCCH office at, and let them know what you wish to feature.

EU Presidency
Preparing for the Hungarian EU Presidency 2011

On 22 January 2010, COBCOE President Howard Rosen and COBCOE Executive members Michael Humphreys and Gergely Mikola, BCCH Chairman, accompanied by HMA Greg Dorey and local UKTI representative Jamie Banks, took part in a private meeting in Budapest with top officials at the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who, under the auspices of Tibor Kiss, Secretary of State, are preparing Hungary's agenda for its presidency of the EU in 2011.

Best Employer Study by Hewitt Associates

BCCH member Hewitt Associates, a global human resources consulting and outsourcing company has announced the launch of the 2010 Best Employers study in Hungary, the most extensive employee engagement survey in the country. Hewitt conducted the first Hungarian Best Employers Study in 2001, and would like to celebrate the study's 10th anniversary with the highest participant number in its history. At the closing of the survey, in addition to this year's winner, the Best Employer of the Decade will be also announced.

Hungary's imports soar in Feb, balance shows EUR 374 m surplus

Hungary has posted a trade surplus of EUR 373.6 million in February, up from EUR 290 million in January and EUR 296 million in February 2009, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) has reported on Thursday, 8 April 2010. While the size of the monthly surplus is not unusual, the overall picture is a bit different this time.
