BCCH to host two more events in the Spring/Summer season

The Chamber is soon closing its Spring/Summer season, but before we go on a summer break on the event front, we would like to offer two more opportunities to meet with fellow members and partners. The BCCH Family Day is to bring everyone together in a relaxed and informal environment at ElevenPark, a giant indoor playground with lots of fun for adults and children alike. Just a couple of days after that, we are organising the last event of the season at the Adina Apartment Hotel Budapest, where we will attempt to recreate the atmosphere of the Royal Ascot Race, and hope that many of you will join us.
Event report
BCCH closes another highly successful year

The 2010 AGM of the BCCH took place on 19 May 2010 at the Gundel to report on the results of the past 12 months. The event started with HM Ambassador Greg Dorey's speech as Honorary Chairman of the BCCH, and continued with the reports of the Chairman, Executive Director, Treasurer and Vice Chairman. After these having been accepted by the AGM attendees, a vote took place on the amendment of the BCCH Charter, and the annual BCCH Achievement Awards were handed out to those who helped the Chamber the most in the 2009-2010 financial year.

BCCH organises its very first Volunteer Day

The CR Special Interest Group of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hungary organised a Volunteer Day as part of their Project Chain Reaction, the beneficiary organisation of which was the Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled People. The main objective of the event was to help them in maintaining and renovating their huge garden, and it is safe to say that it was a great success with around a hundred volunteers working on the project. Teams arrived from a number of BCCH member companies, the British Embassy, and also many enthusiastic individuals offered their help and support.

Small office for rent on the BCCH premises

A separate room is available for rent within the premises of the BCCH office, situated in the heart of the city, only three minutes away from M3 (Nyugati tĂŠr). On top of the use of the office space itself, the rent includes coverage of overheads by the BCCH, a separate bathroom for the exclusive use of tenants, access to the fully equipped kitchen, cleaning twice a week, and the insurance of the premises and furniture. For more information and further details, please contact the BCCH office on +36 1 302-5200, +36 1 302-5201, or via email to

Healthy employees make good business sense

With more than 10 years of experience in providing premium outpatient medical services, BCCH member FirstMed has launched its new Occupational Health service for the benefit of businesses and their most important assets: their employees. The service ensures that a thorough and professional approach is taken to safeguarding the health and working ability of the employees, and the clinic's custom-made approach assists companies to choose affordable and convenient services that meet their specific needs.

Embassy News
The latest news from the British Embassy in Budapest

The British Embassy in Budapest is closing a busy Spring/Summer season with a great number of successful events behind them. Most recently, they have sent a team to the BCCH Volunteer Day, and the UKTI section has conducted a Corporate Training networking event in Vienna. The Embassy has also reported on the UK Government's efforts to equip UK exporters and overseas investors with practical advice and tools to manage the risks of overseas corruption. Analysis
Hungary 3% CPI goal attainable, only more slowly -

The decline in Hungary's inflation will continue, albeit at a smaller rate than previously expected, the central bank (NBH) has said in its latest Report on Inflation. Over the horizon relevant for monetary policy (12-18 months) headline inflation is likely to settle near the 3% target. External demand represents the biggest risk for short-term recovery, while domestic demand will remain a hurdle to growth this year, but from 2011 the central bank expects a marked output growth.
