Changes in the BCCH Council

The composition of the BCCH Council has changed slightly since the Annual General Meeting with Mr. Adrian Ellis having left the Corinthia Hotel Budapest and the country. He had served on the BCCH Council for more than five years, which was almost the same amount of time he spent in Hungary. He had always been a great help and done a lot for the Chamber, and we wish him all the best at his new job as General Manager of the Fairmont Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan. His place in the BCCH Council was taken by Ms. Kinga Engelbrecht (Hotel Boscolo Budapest) and Mr. David Wood (Tesco Hungary), two alternate members elected with the same amount of votes at the AGM.
BCCH Business Certificates
Online course portfolio for member companies

During the years of financial crisis, BCCH member companies have undertaken significant budget cuts in learning and development. Essential knowledge, however, in time management, stress management, change management and other business subjects is more needed than ever. The BCCH provides a unique solution for their member companies to support their learning and development ambitions and drive their growth: BCCH Business Certificates, a comprehensive online course portfolio, about which you can find out more by clicking on the link below.

BCCH office trip

Thanks to BCCH Council Member Mr. Gábor Horváth and Mercure Hotels, the BCCH team had the privilege of spending a long weekend at the Mercure Bratislava Centrum in the summer of 2011. This having been the first such trip in the life of the office, the BCCH staff was excited for the opportunity, and made the most of their stay with a lot of sightseeing and sampling of the famous Slovakian halušky along with products of the country's finest breweries. Despite the rather unfortunate and not very summery weather, the team building trip turned out to be a great one, and hopefully more will follow in the future.

BCCH members' database

The BCCH is launching a new service to make sure that members can communicate with each other more efficiently. We are asking for your help in creating a database that is accessible to all members of the BCCH, enabling them to find contacts in a given field easily and effectively. In order to be able to do that, we not only need you to update your contact details, but also have your consent that they can be given to other BCCH members. Thus, if you agree with the notion of such a database, please read and fill in the consent form, then send it back to bcch@bcch.com along with the contact details you wish to feature.

BCCH VIP Club Discussions return to the Hotel InterContinental

The BCCH VIP Club Discussion series is back, and the InterContinental Budapest has again generously agreed to be the host of these events. Just a few steps away from the Danube, but still situated in the heart of the city and only minutes away from Váci utca, the Hotel offers an excellent location topped with breathtaking views of the Royal Castle, Chain Bridge and the Fishermen's Bastion, even from the conference rooms. But it is not only business that can bring us to the InterContinental, as there is a wide range of other services that they can offer; all about which you can read more by clicking on the link below.

Embassy News
The latest news from the British Embassy in Budapest

A lot is changing at the British Embassy at the end of 2011, and even the beginning of next year will be a time of transition. After Jamie Banks left Budapest and headed for his new posting, Dr. Dora Kulauzov took over as Director of UK Trade & Investment on 2 November 2011; and HMA Greg Dorey will conclude his four years in Hungary at the beginning of December. His successor will arrive at the end of February, with Mrs. Theresa Bubbear, Deputy Head of Mission acting as Chargé d'Affaires until then.

MAPI grant update
Venture capital and government loan guarantees

MAPI Corp. would like to draw BCCH members' attention to two financial constructions that may contribute to the success of projects in Hungary. One is making use of a cash injection offered by the Széchenyi Capital Investment Fund, while the other is provided by Combined Loan Guarantees. Even though these two financial solutions represent two different approaches helping to realise investments, they both pursue the common goal of providing SMEs with financial support for their development investments.
